It is not often that I reference something that isn't scripture, because our Almighty Creator is truly the best reference for everything in life. However, this African Proverb truly has it right. I believe in the power of informed choice. Show me flack, but I'm going to assume what you've learned is mainstream. I'm going to assume that what you need to hear is the other side of the story. Based on most response I've heard, you have no idea there was any other way. Doctors, friends, family, co workers, media.. They all want what's best for you, right? Maybe. Maybe their agendas are pure. I hope they are. The reason I share what I do, and the reason I feel I need to write it down is this: I care about you, I care about what you know, I care that you know more than you thought you did about something, I care that you feel confident in your decision. I just care and it's the reason I share (no rhym intended). Again, I'm going to assume that what you need to hear is probably not what you'll get mainstream. I am not mainstream. But don't just take my word for it.
Whether you are pro life or pro choice, pro vaccine or anti vaccine, home school or public school, for circumcision or not, birth at home or birth at a hospital, breast feed or formula feed, co sleep or sleep train, baby wear or not, choose medicine or a holistic approach, the list can go on and on. The point is, these are choices we make as parents and people. These are choices I am learning about every day. I'll let you in on a little secret, I am not perfect. I fail, every day. I haven't always made choices I'm proud of. But I'm learning, just like you.
I encourage you, follow your instinct. Do your research. If something doesn't feel right to you, question it. Go outside of what ever "norm" you feel stuck in. Feel like you've made the right decision for you and your family already? Great. I'm glad you've made that informed choice. Don't agree with my stance? That's okay too. Feel passionate about your findings? Share it. You just might find that one person who needed to hear it.

Very well said! If people asked more questions the world would definitely be a better place!
